Looking for the USDA VSPS login?
It's one click away.

VSPS (Veterinary Services Process Streamlining) is the USDA APHIS system for eCVIs, Coggins tests, and accreditation renewal. Here's the official portal — plus plain-English help for everything the government site doesn't explain.

Go to the Official USDA VSPS Login →

Takes you to vsapps.aphis.usda.gov — the official government site. We never ask for your login.

Getting into VSPS for the first time

The #1 reason vets get stuck: VSPS doesn't have its own password — it signs you in through login.gov. Here's the short version.

1

Create a login.gov account

Go to the official VSPS login, choose "Log In" → "Create Account," and follow the login.gov signup with your email.

2

Build your VSPS profile & request your role

Fill in every field marked with a red asterisk, then request the Veterinarian role using your state, National Accreditation Number, and veterinary school. If your info matches USDA records, approval is automatic.

3

Verify your identity (only for CVIs & Coggins)

Planning to create Interstate CVIs or Coggins records? You'll also need identity verification through login.gov (or in person at a USDA Service Center if online verification fails).

4

Stuck? Call the actual help desk

VSPS Help Desk: help@usda.gov or 877-944-8457, option 4. login.gov account problems: 1-800-457-3642. If your role isn't approved after 2 business days, email the help desk.

🐕 Traveling with a dog or cat? You're in the wrong system.

VSPS is for livestock — it doesn't handle companion animals. Pet owners need the USDA APHIS Pet Travel Website and a USDA-accredited veterinarian. Our Pet Travel Paperwork Kit walks you through the whole thing so your vet visit is faster and cheaper.

Skip the confusion: plain-English guides

Everything in these guides exists somewhere across dozens of government pages and PDFs — we've done the digging, organized it, and translated it into checklists you can actually follow. Instant download. Not official USDA documents.

Frequently asked questions

Where is the official USDA VSPS login?

Right here: vsapps.aphis.usda.gov/vsps/public/Login.do. Sign in with your login.gov account. Bookmark it — and bookmark us for when you get stuck.

What does VSPS stand for?

Veterinary Services Process Streamlining — the USDA APHIS system accredited veterinarians, technicians, importers, labs, and state/federal employees use for eCVIs, Coggins tests, accreditation renewal, and animal import paperwork.

Do I need a login.gov account?

Yes. VSPS has no standalone password — access runs through login.gov. Creating Interstate CVIs or Coggins records additionally requires identity verification.

Can I get a pet health certificate through VSPS?

No — VSPS doesn't support companion animals. For pet travel, start at the USDA APHIS Pet Travel Website and see a USDA-accredited veterinarian. Our Pet Travel Paperwork Kit explains the whole process.

How much does a health certificate cost?

For pet owners: domestic certificates typically run $155–$350; international certificates $400–$1,200+ once you include vet fees and USDA endorsement. Requirements and costs vary by destination — that's exactly what our kit helps you plan for.

Is this the government's website?

No. vsps.com is an independent, privately owned educational resource. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the USDA, APHIS, or any government agency. We link to official government sites and never collect government credentials. Our paid guides are educational summaries, not official documents.
